Hi there! Welcome to the site - thanks for visiting & for all support & donations. What a tremendous trip to The Great Wall. Great group too. If there's anything you'd like to know, please get in touch. Have a really great day!
Fundraising - Autumn 2007 to Summer 2008 - extended due to great encouragement & support, thank you :)
I have, err, talked about this rather a lot with certain folk! Bounced a lot of stuff around which has helped get ideas straight in the head. Thank you. You know who you are. (Crikey if I've forgotten you, please bonk me on the head - the post-babies brain hopefully will return soon!)
I shall be adding to this list, fear not. I wish I could've talked to other "old" mates, esp. Liz, Tommo, "Fluffy", Jill Cole & Ali Aitken but hours in day limited! Perhaps still can?!
PERSONAL - FAMILY & FRIENDS
This is in no exact, scientific order....though have tried to keep chronological...
Jamie (for great support, for ensuring I didn't have to chop my hair off & understanding why I'm doing this!), Julo (constant continuous encouragement), Del (for some unusual angles, great PR 'snippets' & hearing perhaps more than anyone about this & am so glad your epic 40th birthday celebrations are over!), Lindy (my late night "debater" & occasional co-karaoke singer who has helped me enormously, handing out flyers, spreading the word & many more things), Melanie Adamson for getting me to pose for some - errr - photos, Mui Mui & Marcus for talking "megabytes" with me, Simon Boyde (pints of Guinness bring out good ideas, actually you helped put me on the right 'trek'!)...
Karl Woodbury (Editor Extraordinaire of "The Pun" for the Wanchai Premier League), Peter Jeffery - ex-boss & Former Publisher of Reader's Digest Asia - for clarifiying my approach of the corporate sector! Bridgey (just great 'stuff'), Amanda Chapman for her encouragement of "The Long March" & for wanting to spread the word, Jan Littlewood for exercise tips & lovely hiking books, Kingsley Smith (so incredibly quick to respond!), Alexbeth & Antonio (you know why!), Nicola G - chance meetings in 'Cru' most 'enlightening' (u r clever!); thanks for the Elizabeth "Butler" who's just re-emerged rather uncannily into our lives - just fabulous... Kay Ross - marketing & p.r. guru - thanks for the tips about how to contact SCMP (and hope you've recovered from your 50th, from comedy show appearances & 'The Gratitude Dance')!
Sue "I-Saac-Something" (you'd make a great mentor - always provide such great clarity, thanks for everything!) & to everyone who's said they like to sponsor this effort! Oh, and people who don't even know me, like at Amanda's barbie, I was very touched by general interest & subsequent phone call from Gianluca & Wendy about making a donation! Thank you.
Still more...Wendy Herbert - please don't ever change, Sean & Graham - I just found out you've added my "cause" to your website - wow - thanks (Amanda Chapman it was you!!)....
Diana, for taking my Post-Trek Roadshow international! Really looking forward to meeting Crudwell Ladies group.
My parents & siblings - for their courage & unconditional love. Mama aka "GrandMa Ducks" - for her inspiring "Purple Hats!", Joey (for her amazing email & support), John & Lisa (parents akin to "Superman" & "SuperWoman", & John - you were my rock around that horribly sad time), Karl (fabulous feedback & refreshingly welcome honesty!) & new mum Kate (thinking of you & your mother lots right now)... And last but not least, the famous "GrandPa Eddie Woodbury - where's the orange van?"
A very special thank you to my 2 wonderful children George & Lara...."sorry mama's been side-tracked...I will make it up to you...hope you will understand, one day".
George and Lara
